ToTAN has been selected as one of the machines for my new office space, after 10 months of storage. Unfortunately, when taking the legs off to put the machine in storage, one of the leg bolts broke off, leaving a chunk of bolt still threaded inside the cabinet. Damn! So now I’m faced with the challenge of getting that chunk of bolt out so I can remount the legs.

Wednesday, December 26th, 2001Set up ST:TNG after 10 months in storage. Machine is in pretty much the same state as when I left it. Things of immediate concern are:
- Machine thinks that both guns are dead.
- Jet bumper cap is still off (this is not a surprise).
- “Beta Quadrant” ramp is still screwed down too tight
- End of the spiral ramp is a little too low causing the ball to bump against it on its way into the “Holodeck” lane.
- Need to run test report
Medieval Madness After Storage
Saturday, December 22nd, 2001Set up the machine and gave it a whirl after 10 months sitting in the basement. Works great, except for a few glitches that I have to look into:
- Castle gate doesn’t register any hits. The drawbridge will come down, but the gate itself doesn’t register any hits. The gate was giving me trouble in the past where smacking the flippers (and just about anything else) ‘caused the gate to register a hit, now it’s not registering anything. Theory #1: bad optos at gate entrance (they’re what actually register the gate hits).
- Occasionally, when the ball enters the Castle through the “Lock” entrance (the swinging wall flap), it gets stuck on the way out underneath. Maybe something got bumped out of place during the move from storage[1].
- Some of the lights for the king’s mens’ castles (around the “Magic Shield”) are out.
- The latches and rail for the lock-down bar are kinda bent and jam really easily. This has been a problem with this machine since I got it, but I’m finally getting around to putting an entry in the journal for it. Now I just gotta fix it.
- Need to run test report
- Playfield is wicked dirty.
[1] This turned out to be a small splinter of wood.
Some Machines Up
Friday, December 21st, 2001Yay! My new company has brand spankin’ new office space with room for some machines. Medieval Madness, ST:TNG, and Tales of the Arabian Nights are the lucky first 3 to come out of storage.
