This is the first entry I have for Banzai Run. Pretty sure the machine arrived in July of 2000. – 12/15/2006
Left divertor for the tiger loop isn’t working. Looked underneath playfield, busted spring. Hacked a temporary solution with a twist-tie until I can get a replacement spring. Works a little bit.
Replaced shooter rod.
Removed and cleaned borg ship plastic. Didn’t really have much of an effect.
A couple rows of the dot matrix display were a little messed up, so I replaced the display with the one from Hurricane which was in perfect condition. Sweet.
Hurricane arrived. This machine sucks so bad. I have immediately decided to use it for spare parts. Also, I will use the cabinet when I finally get around to building my own machine.
Terminator 2 (T2) is here. This machine is a quite a disappointment. Barely operates.
Wanna do some work on ST:TNG today:
Completely rebuilt right gun mechanism top-to-bottom. Replaced wires, replaced opto receiver/transmitter, solenoid (AE-23-800), sleeve (WMS #03-7067). Works nice.
Made some notes on the wiring[3]:
| Opto, left: | White case, green circuit board. |
| Black Wire → K pin | |
| Grey Wire → A pin | |
| Opto, right: | Black case, blue circuit board. |
| Grey/Yellow Wire → C pin | |
| Orange Wire → E pin |
I ran a completely new set of wires from the connector under the playfield to the components on the gun mechanism. I didn’t have a completely matching set of colored wires, so here is the new color mapping from orignal wire (under playfield) to new wire (above playfield):
| Purple | → | Purple |
| Grey/Yellow | → | Blue |
| Red | → | Red |
| Purple/Yellow | → | White |
| Orange | → | Green |
| Grey | → | Grey |
| Black | → | Black w/silver lettering |
| Yellow | → | Black w/o silver lettering |
From my notebook, right gun with cover removed:
Replaced coil sleeve in left popper assembly (WMS #03-7067).
Tried to replace “missing” jet bumper cap under “Beta Quadrant” ramp, but it doesn’t fit. I guess it’s not supposed to have one there[4].
Fixed the clear plastic which sits over the jet bumpers and under the borg ship. It was on backwards.
Moved right outlane post to more liberal position, making outlane entrance smaller.
[1] This bumper cap wasn’t actually missing. But it’s my first machine and I didn’t have a manual.
[2] I don’t remember what this entry meant.
[3] Again, first machine, first time dealing with optos. Clearly the left is the transmitter, right is receiver. I didn’t care at the time ‘cause I just needed to make sure everything was wired up the same.
[4] In hindsight: duh. — 11/13/2006
